Avoid Fatal Car Accidents in California by Following This Advice

California residents depend on their automobiles to get them from A to B, but transportation becomes the least of their concerns if a serious car accident happens. The injuries, fatalities and property damage that happen in a car accident can be life-altering for California residents and their families. For this reason, it is important that we all do our part to avoid injurious and fatal accidents whenever possible, and we can do so by following the pieces of advice below.

Do not drive while “buzzed.” The general advice that says, “do not drink and drive,” is accepted by everyone. The problem is that drivers are often unable to know with absolute certainty if they are too drunk to drive. Thus comes the advice to not drive while “buzzed.” By buzzed, we are referring to your ability to feel any effects of the alcohol he or she has consumed. Be safe instead of sorry. If you have been drinking, do not get behind the wheel of an automobile.

Do not drive while distracted. In today’s modern world, we have numerous distractions coming at us from all kinds of technological devices. IPods, iPads, iPhones, smartphones and regular cellphones are just a handful of distractions that take our eyes off the road. Do yourself, your passengers and the people you share the road with a favor: put these devices out of reach while you are operating your motor vehicle.

By following the above two pieces of advice alone, California drivers can avoid and prevent a large number of fatal accidents. However, there is also the important advice of following speed limits, being extra careful in parking lots and driving an automobile with advanced safety systems. Most importantly, though, use common sense and stay alert to avoid the dangerous circumstances that present themselves when other drivers fail to follow the above advice.
