Salma Hayek’s Brother Involved in Fatal Car Accident

The brother of actress Salma Hayek was involved in a serious car accident last night which left his passenger dead. CBS Los Angeles reports that the crash occurred Sunday evening around 5 p.m. when 40-year-old Sami Hayek lost control of his 2006 Ford GT on Sunset Boulevard.

Hayek’s car crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a truck.

Authorities have identified Hayek’s deceased passenger as a Grammy-winning art director and photographer named Ian Cutler. The 43-year-old photographer was a New York resident and died at the scene from blunt force injuries.

Hayek suffered lacerations to his head and broken ribs in the crash. The 20-year-old truck driver that he hit suffered a broken foot. Both drivers were treated at UCLA Medical Center.

The investigation in the crash is ongoing and it is still unclear what caused Hayek to lose control of his vehicle.

Hayek is a furniture design and the younger brother of Mexican film actress Salma Hayek who is known for starring in the 2002 film Frida. She is set to star in the upcoming movie “How to Make Love Like an Englishman” with Jessica Alba and Pierce Brosnan.
