Eaton Fire Attorneys

Did You Lose Your Home in the Eaton Fire?

Our California wildfire lawyers were among the first law firms to file a wrongful death claim against Southern California Edison arising out of the devastating Eaton Fire, which started on January 7, 2025 and destroyed more than 9,000 structures, mostly across Altadena.

As reported upon by the Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times, and the Pasadena Star, Greene Broillet & Wheeler, LLP has filed a lawsuit against Southern California Edison (SCE). SCE is investigating whether its power lines played a role in sparking the Eaton fire.  SCE has confirmed it has preserved  electrical equipment near the fire’s origin as evidence.

At Greene Broillet & Wheeler, LLP, we have always used our legal practice to support and represent people who have suffered great loss due to preventable tragedies.

In the past, we were the only firm that represented family members of each and every person who passed away in the Woolsey Fire, one of the most destructive fires in California’s history, and we are currently representing those who were harmed by the Lahaina/Maui Fire.

Eaton Fire’s Destructive Toll

The Eaton Fire – sometimes called the Altadena Fire – started on January 7, 2025, in the Angeles National Forest Eaton Canyon region. Dry conditions and the annual Santa Ana wind phenomenon caused the wildfire to burn around 14,000 acres in just two days, with a rapid expansion happening within the first few hours.

The Eaton Fire reportedly destroyed more than 9,000 buildings and caused damage to over a thousand other structures. It is believed to be one of the most destructive fires in California history, as well as one of the deadliest.  The official death toll for the Eaton Fire has been reported as 18 civilian fatalities.

Members of our law firm have lost their homes due to the 2025 Los Angeles fires, and Greene Broillet & Wheeler, LLP offers our sincere condolences to those that have lost their homes and to the families of those who have passed away in the Eaton Fire.

What Can You Recover in an Eaton Fire Lawsuit?

If you are eligible to file a lawsuit against SCE for the destruction of the Eaton Fire, you might be able to recover compensation for:

  • Property loss: Costs to repair and replace damaged homes, vehicles, and personal belongings.
  • Additional Living Expenses: costs incurred due to the need to evacuate, such as temporary lodging.
  • Medical bills: Costs related to any medical treatment needed, such as those related to treating burns or smoke inhalation.
  • Wrongful death damages: Losses related to the loss of a loved one, including emotional losses, as well as burial costs, and the loss of income and day-to-day support.

Furthermore, insurance might not cover the full damages caused by the Eaton Fire. Many homeowner’s insurance policies and small business insurance policies are likely to fall short.  If you have lost your home or business, our Eaton Fire attorneys can help you understand the details of any relevant policy and how to pursue compensation for any shortfall.
