Poor weather conditions and poor driving are being cited as contributing factors in several recent bus accidents throughout the region.
CBS-LA reports that at least 30 people were trapped in a Baldwin Park crash which happened early Monday morning. The accident happened shortly after 4:30 a.m. on Westbound 10 Freeway and the Baldwin Park Boulevard off ramp.
Passengers say that the bus driver attempted to exit the highway at a high rate of speed and lost control of the vehicle. More than a dozen people suffered injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals.
The bus was bringing its passengers back from Fantasy Springs Resort Casino. It was operated by Travel Tours Americas International.
Three earlier bus accidents killed two people, including 91-year-old Khang Tieu of Midway. Tieu died after a Sina International bus crashed on the 15 Freeway. Passengers say that the driver of that bus was going 65mph, which was too fast given the slick conditions. All of the passengers in that crash were injured.
Around the same time another tour bus crashed on the 15 Freeway near Fallbrook, killing a 64-year-old Van Nuys woman.
