On Monday, March 2nd at around 6:30 pm, a female pedestrian in Lynwood was struck by a Los Angeles Sherriff’s Department Deputy’s patrol vehicle – and sent to the hospital with critical injuries. Long Beach officials are still investigating the cause of the accident, but like most pedestrian crashes, it appears that the pedestrian has sustained more life-threatening injuries than the deputy driving the vehicle.

At Greene Broillet & Wheeler, LLP, our Los Angeles injury attorneys have litigated many cases that share similarities with this recent Lynwood crash. In 2014, our firm represented the family of Milton Olin Jr., a prominent entertainment lawyer and former COO of Napster who was killed during a bike ride on Mulholland Highway.

Much like the victim in this case, Milton Olin Jr. was also struck and injured by a Los Angeles Sherriff’s Department Deputy’s patrol car. Seeking answers as to how and why this happened, the Olin family contacted the attorneys at Greene Broillet & Wheeler, LLP.

As the family sought appropriate compensation for the loss of their beloved husband and father, our team at Greene Broillet & Wheeler, LLP fought tirelessly to secure justice on their behalf. As attorney Bruce A. Broillet shared at the time: “We believe the sheriff (deputy) was operating his vehicle negligently, inappropriately and this never should have happened.” Ultimately, the County of Los Angeles paid $11.75 million to compensate the Olin family for their loss.

Our hearts go out to the victim of this tragic pedestrian accident in Lynwood, and we wish her a speedy recovery. When drivers fail to consider the safety of vulnerable pedestrians on the road, they can and should be held accountable for their actions. As experienced personal injury attorneys, we have the resources and skill to fully investigate cases involving local law enforcement, and we are committed to each and every case that we take on.
